Rooted
Cuttings
Before
receiving your cuttings you will need:
1.
Peat - well draining potting soil
2.
Fertilizer - Miracle-Gro
3.
Pot - 2 Litre pot with good drainage holes underneath
When you receive your cuttings:
Place
the cutting in the pot and fill with peat. Do not pack the peat tightly
into the pot
Water
generously (without fertilizer)
Position:
Autumn
to early spring: Place the potted cutting in a warm and sunny room
or conservatory. Keep the temperature above 14 degrees centigrade.
Late
spring and summer: Keep the potted cutting out of direct midday sunlight
until it is well established with plenty of leaves.
After care:
When
you see the first signs of new roots, begin fertilizing your plant
with every watering.
Watering
should be done from underneath. Stand the pot in a tray of approximately
2cm of water and fertilizer and leave to stand for 10 minutes.
Water
only when necessary (when the pot feels noticeably lighter). Over-watering
will kill the plant.
Pinching:
When
your cutting is approximately 10cm tall, pinch the head out - this
will encourage branching and a more bushy plant.
Mature
Plants
Temperature:
Days:
15-25°C (59-77°F)
Nights: 12-16°C (54-61°F)
Light:
Good
sunlight exposure is required for bright flower colour but exposure
to extreme sunlight will cause leaf burn.
Watering:
Place
pot in 2cm of water and fertilizer and leave to stand for 10-15 minutes.
Keep pots moist but avoid excessively wet and excessively dry conditions.
